Tu Hong
£2.00 – £8.00
This red tea is harvested beyond Tung Mu, in Jiangxi province, outside the reserve. It is practically a wild tea, harvested in small quantities away from the usual tea plantings. The tea is not intended for sale, but for personal use, resulting in a somewhat sloppy appearance. This tea is called Tu Cha, where Tu in Chinese means local, simple, and sometimes primitive. Despite its appearance, it is a powerful and robust tea, with a sweet taste accompanied by bitterness. At first glance, it may seem rough and simple, but upon closer inspection, it reveals a complex and nuanced character.
