Lao Yi
£2.70 – £70.00
The cake known as Lao Yi in English translates to “First” or “Senior.” In certain provinces of China, it was common practice to name children according to their birth order until recently. As the tea leaf used in this cake is the first variety, the name was a natural choice. The tea was harvested in Meng Hai county in the Yun Nan province in spring of 2021. It boasts a strong, round, and clean taste with a pronounced main flavor and a light camphor aftertaste, which is typical of Menghai pu-erh tea. Although the taste is pure, there is a strong “signature” Pu-erh earthy background. The body sensation is excellent, being both strong and smooth.
